Laser cutting (CO₂ & diode)
Light and low in density, so alder cuts faster and at lower power than maple or pear — a good everyday sheet for volume work. Thermo-treated alder is darker but noticeably more brittle: support small parts and handle finished cut-outs gently.
Laser engraving & contrast
Fine, even grain gives crisp raster detail and predictable engraving contrast — dark burn against a pale surface, without blotchy patches where a hard grain line resists the beam. Ideal for logos, photo rasters, lettering and fine line art.
Solid hardwood, not plywood
No glue layers, no core voids, no delamination and no white plywood edge. Cut edges show real wood colour end to end, so pieces can be sanded, oiled or stained like any solid timber instead of being hidden under paint.
Flatness & thickness consistency
Sheets are milled to ±0.10 mm and stored flat at 8–12% moisture, so focus stays constant across the bed and cuts go through in one pass. No rocking sheets, no half-cut corners, no re-running a job because the middle was thicker.
Low char, easy clean-up
Closed, resin-poor grain keeps kerf char light and largely confined to the edge. A wipe or light sanding leaves a clean face; masking the top surface removes almost all smoke staining on engraved work.

Low-resin European alder laser cutting sheets — clean edges, even grain, and a warm light-brown tone. Ideal for CO₂ laser projects, signs, marquetry and fine craft work.
Each sheet is sanded to 120 grit before packing, so the surface is smooth and consistent — important for even engraving contrast, clean focus and a finished look straight off the laser.

About Alder
European alder (Alnus glutinosa) is a naturally low-resin hardwood that laser-cuts cleanly with minimal charring and consistent edge quality. Its fine, even grain and light reddish-brown tone give finished work a warm, natural look without distracting figure.
Alder is softer and lighter than pear or boxwood, so it engraves and cuts quickly while holding a crisp edge. The low natural oil content reduces flaming and residue on CO₂ lasers, making it a reliable choice for detailed panels, signs, inlay and architectural model parts.
