About Castello Boxwood

Castello Boxwood (Calycophyllum multiflorum) is the modern standard for high-end model ship planking, replacing the now-scarce European boxwood. Its pale cream colour and near-invisible grain give a smooth, uniform run where no single piece stands out from the next.

Boxwood is exceptionally dense and stable, so pieces hold their dimensions precisely and bend cleanly around the hull without crushing or splitting at tight curves. The fine grain means edges stay sharp and glue joints sit tight.

Each piece is milled fresh from the same stock and held to ±0.10 mm, so a full run keeps a consistent line.
