About Pen Turning Blanks
Standard 19 × 19 × 130 mm pen blanks for slim, fountain and twist-pen kits. Each species is selected for grain, density and finish — the woods listed below all turn cleanly without tear-out and polish to a deep lustre.
Swiss Pear (Pyrus communis) — warm pinkish-cream with very fine, even grain. A classic, understated look that suits formal pens and gifts.
Castello Boxwood (Calycophyllum multiflorum) — pale creamy-yellow, dense and glass-smooth. The finest surface finish of any species we stock, ideal for high-polish pens.
Coloured Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus, dyed) — European hornbeam impregnated with vivid dye through the full cross-section. Available in black, red, green, brown and yellow. The colour cannot sand or wear away.
Mixed pack — a curated selection covering the main species, ideal for sampling or making a matched set in varying tones.
All blanks are kiln-dried to 8–10% moisture, clean-milled on all four faces and ready to mount between centres.
